Another 10km training run done

The training run this evening was slightly slower than I had planned. When we started I was aware that my training partner Mark wasn't running as fast as he usually does in the beginning of our sessions. This was a good thing as we normally tend to start too fast anyway. Later it became clear that Mark wasn't feeling too well (bad stomach) so we settled into a nice leisurely pace and finished the 10km with an average speed of 10.3km/h.
Ok for me as I am racing a 5km on Sunday, so the legs should be fine!

Good news this week from my brother Pascal: he will come to England and run with me in Helsby on Sunday 18th January 2009. This will be an extra motivation for me to do well and try and achieve my target time of 1u50'.

My old AOL blog

For anyone who wants to have a look, this was my old blog with AOL: http://journals.aol.co.uk/nattybell/nattybell-on-her-way-to-a-marath/

Still lots of work to do on the new one, i.e links to websites and blogs I visit regularly, copying some of the old blog etc.

Anyway, the main reason for this blog is to report on my running training and my progress towards my first marathon (not sure yet when and where this will be) in 2010.

I will also try and report on my brother Pascal Debersaques and his running results. Currently he's only putting in training and no races planned yet as he's still suffering from pain in his back and leg. He might come over to support me in Helsby next January so whatch this space!

Bye for now!

Paula Radcliffe wins Great South Run & Good training session for me!

Paula Radcliffe stormed to victory in the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth today. She also set a new Bristish record over the 10 mile distance!

Certainly showed she's back and hopefully we'll see another victory next Sunday in the New York Marathon where she defends her title.

Seeing Paula run gave me a bit of motivation to go out training on my own today. Must say though: I do not like running on my own. For me it is psychological and really had to tell myself to 'keep going' and get to that 12km I wanted to put in today.

Anyway, managed to do the run and covered the distance with an average speed of 11km/h, just a bit faster than expected so happy with the progress.

However, can see one problem for me with the longer distances and that's: blisters. Because of my bunions on both feet I am very prone to blisters. I also used to suffer badly from them when doing long distance walking. Let's hope they won't be 'throwing a spanner in the works' as my training is going so well.

Any advice on how to treat them best will be greatly received. Luckily nothing too bad yet but planning to run my first 10miles in two weeks time so fingers crossed.

So overall a good week's training! Hopefully the same next week.

Will Paula win in Portsmouth tomorrow?

I will have to go training early tomorrow morning as I don't want to miss seeing Paula Radcliffe run in the Great South Run, a 10 mile race at 10:30 on Channel 5.

She faces a tough field with Benita Johnson from Australia to name one. It will be a great test for the New York Marathon on 2nd November where she faces even better opposition!

Can't wait to see the race!! Good luck Paula!!!

Good training week!

Groetjes

Nathalie

Welcome to my new blog!

AOL decided to scrap the journals (blogs) from 31st October 2008. I first thought about waiting until the Christmas period or next Spring to re-start my blog but really enjoyed 'blogging' so here I am again!!

Hopefully I will have been able to copy my old blog to this one and you'll be able to read all the old postings.

As before this blog will hold information on my running training (which is going very well) together with information from my Garmin (excellent training aid!!).

Bye for now!
