Chester Triathlon Club 9.5mile TT: First lady in dreadful weather!

Off I go & yes, saddle need to go higher
Nearly there & can't feel my finger tips & toes!
Not a happy face!

Couldn't see where I was going! (double click to see full size!)
As for the duathlon on 6th December, the weather for today's 9.54mile (15.35km) TT was dreadful during the second part of the course. Certainly the fight against the wind on the way back was something I did not enjoy!
Although I ended up winning the ladies event (4 ladies present), I'm not too happy with my time, as it was 20" slower than when I did the duathlon. Never mind, I took part and also managed to go for a 10km run tonight.
Worried about my left leg though! Felt a slight pain again after 30 minutes of running and than much worse when I'd covered 8.2km. I did manage to complete the full 10km in 55'49" but will have a rest tomorrow and rub the knee (think that's where the pain comes from) and maybe also put some ice against it.
Hopefully I can do a short run with the club on Tuesday eve. I might leave the interval session on the track on Wednesday and stick to the plan of trying to run for 2hours non-stop on Thursday.
Will complete the reports below tomorrow - promise!
Ciao - Nathalie

Round the Roodee Boxing Day 2009!

First race in my new Chester Triathlon Club vest!

Official result not available yet but Garmin one: 5.81km in 28'57".

Today was supposed to be the Shell Round the Walls race, 4.5 miles around the Chester City walls. However, black ice on some parts of the walls meant that the organisers decided to cancel the walls run and we had to run around the Roodee, the Chester Racecourse. So instead of going up and down stairs, we had a cross-country race on our plate today!

Hubby Dave dashed home after his fun run and got my spikes in the nick of time!!

Above this post are some photos of the race. I will update with a report tomorrow and also complete last week's one!

Last events for 2009!

Pain in my legs and knee after yesterday's event but hopefully that will only be temporarily and I can finish 2009 with the following 2 events:

- 26th December: Shell Round the Walls, 4.5 miles/7.2km in Chester
- 27th December: Club Bike Time Trial, Chester Triathlon Club, 9 miles/14.4km also in Chester

Also trying to squeeze in at least one slow long run of 2 to 2 1/2 hours and that one will probably happen on the last day of the year, Thursday 31st December, in the morning. Need to plan the training well with the races etc so this seems to only option. Oh well, will certainly be hungry enough for lots of party food in the evening!!!

A Merry Christmas & Happy 2010 to all my blog readers!

Stiperstones Seasonal Saunter: 31km walk/run - 4hrs16'10"

My room at The Stiperstones Inn: lovely & the food also!

The Stiperstones Seasonal Saunter, a 20mile challenge event organised by the Marches Group of the Long Distance Walkers Association started in Snailbeach, Shropshire. The event was recommended to me by Helen & Garfield Southall, both very keen walkers. Unfortunately they couldn't make it.

The event was going to be good for my stamina and getting some mileage in my legs for the Tokyo marathon - now not so far away!

I had decided to travel down to Snailbeach on Friday evening and with the bad road/weather conditions on Saturday in Cheshire, that proved a wise decision! The SatNav got me there without any problems by 7pm and I was ready for a nice and relaxing evening. Accommodation and food at the Stiperstones Inn were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed my meal on Friday evening.

I wanted to be at the village hall before 8am, so had asked for a tray with breakfast.
(more to follow tomorrow - need my bed now!)

with 2 ladies who did not start the final run.

Shame that not more club members took part but the Sunday bike rides were still going ahead, the weather was absolutely awful at the start etc etc.

For me, the novice, this was a test to see how my body would cope with the change from cycling to running!
